Research
Communication Science studies the role of communication in individual and collective change processes. Special attention is paid to communication in interactive design trajectories that are geared towards bringing about organisational, policy and/or technology change in societal domains such as agriculture, health, land use, environment and international development.

The current research programme is entitled ‘Communication and Space for Change’, emphasizing on the relation between communicative dynamics in networks and the emergence of organisational, policy or technology change.

Our research aims to increase our theoretical understanding of communicative dynamics in these spheres, but also to develop theories, concepts and methodologies that can inform communication professionals and interdisciplinary scholars in dealing with complex problem situations in the four domains.

Domains of Study

Our research can we (roughly) divided into the following fields.

» Agriculture and Land-use
» Food and Health
» Nature, Water and Environment
» International Development

Research themes

In relation to the overall theme ‘communication and space for change’, we distinguish five research areas, each emphasizing different phenomena and aspects that are relevant to the crossing of boundaries at social interfaces. Find out more about these theme's and our projects linked to them:
